I am pleased to report that over the past twelve months our “outsourcing” business (COS) has not only met, but surpassed the contract budget projected for the year. With much optimism, and taking a big chance, we set the fiscal year contract budget for a total of $42,000. We have not only met, but far exceeded this amount, with a total contract revenue of $62,756 for the year. Even with the area economy being in somewhat of a sluggish state, local industries called and requested our services. We wish to thank our loyal customers for allowing us the opportunity to serve them. Due to the fact that we “partner” with the area companies, Consumers are empowered to be productive and receive pay for a job well done, which is the focus of COS.
“Pre Vocational Services” continue to be offered to Consumers on a daily basis. Sessions offered to the group are aimed at preparing a Consmer eligible for paid or unpaid employment. This includes following directions, problem solving, task completion, just to name a few. Staff members are encouraged to offer subjects of Consumer interests and provide in a group setting, a learning time that focuses on generalized habilitative goals.
Again this year, we have added an additonal waiver service entitled “Day Habilitation Services.” This service is aimed at supporting Consumers in the development and/or maintenance of life skills. Community integration is an important part of this service, which the Consumers thoroughly enjoy. Not only do we visit places of interest in Conroy and neighboing towns, many sperkers have come to our Agency and have shared their interests with the group. Both Consumers and staff enjoy the camaraderie and there is an obvious feeling of “belonging” for the Consumers we serve.
By the end of the fiscal year, it was noted that the majority, or 56%, of our services have become federally funded. We are in a definite time of transition, and can be assured that additonal revisions in programming will be most probable in the future. Even through these times of change, we can say with confidence, that we will not lose our focus, and that is ...to continue to serve our reason for existence.........THE CONSUMER.
We look forward to the new year with anticipation and enthusiasm...
